As they are the first fruit of the season the birds tend to eat most of them.

LOQUATS are native to Southeastern China and from there they were introduced To Japan hence their common name of Japanese Medlars. Our tree is about 4 metres tall with leaves about 30cm long. It produces white flowers in February followed by fast growing fruits about 5cm round, very juicy and slightly acidic in flavour. They have large brown seeds which are very easy to propogate.
As they are the first fruit of the season the birds tend to eat most of them.
